To me it’s mind-blowing that—in a country where you’re allowed to chose the sex you’d like to marry, there’s a province that doesn’t let you choose when and where to buy your beer.

Also: in festivals you have to stay in a cordoned area and drink your beer there, yet there’s people smoking weed all over the place! Someone explain the logic behind this! (not that Ents should be cordoned off, just pure jealousy).

Because getting drunk poses more of a risk to society at large than smoking pot?

Yes, because countries that have a more permissive view on alcohol are falling apart.

Just let adults do as they please, I don’t need the government telling me what is good or bad for me.

Canada allowing gay marriage wasn’t a socially libertarian thing. It was about fairness: legal equality for gay couples, a constitutional issue.

You shouldn’t really regard the two as being similar issues or as part of some kind of spectrum of social permissiveness.

This comment was really eye opening to me, got me thinking for a while and it’s completely true
