Do people here like streetcars? Can someone explain to me how they are in anyway remotely logical?
r/torontou/slayp00n:
They are stuck on a track, one breaks down and they fuck up the entire city’s traffic.
Other cities have electric buses that can switch lanes and are accordion style for capacity.
The Tracks also injure bikers and reduce cars stopping ability.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STREETCAR?
I used to think the same thing until I started using them. They are actually just as comfortable as the Subway without the overhead of going underground and up again.
But they are a terrible patchwork for city traffic. Toronto needs more subway stations not only in the suburbs, but in its downtown core. Any comparable world class city has a better Subway than Toronto. Hell, Bilbao (Spain) has the same length with a population of 350,000!
